The mission of Lifestyle Health Alliance is to increase public awareness of lifestyle approaches to prevent, treat, and reverse chronic disease and improve health, most significant of which is a whole food plant-based lifestyle. With the widespread belief that the cause of chronic conditions are largely genetic or a normal part of aging and that once diagnosed with such a condition there is no chance of reversing it, our organization’s logo and tagline Healthy for a Lifetime was chosen to address this impression by demonstrating it is possible to be healthy at all stages of life when given the appropriate fuel (food).

Information about Whole Food Plant-based Nutrition

Based on decades of scientific research, including randomized controlled trials, the evidence is overwhelming that a diet of minimally processed plant-based foods can prevent, treat and often reverse conditions such as heart disease, diabetes, obesity, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, some autoimmune conditions, arthritis and many others. For example, multiple studies have shown that heart disease, our #1 killer, is an entirely reversible condition by consuming a whole food plant-based diet. This is a result that has never been achieved with any drug or surgical procedure.

While often referred to as a vegan diet, a whole food plant-based (WFPB) lifestyle seeks to not only avoid animal products but also minimizes as much as possible highly processed foods, such as oils and white flours. This pleasurable and delicious way of eating focuses on a wide variety of fruits, vegetables, whole grains and legumes that can be easily adopted by anyone. It does not require expensive packaged foods or shopping at specialty grocery stores, calorie counting is unnecessary and it can be adapted to any cultural or taste preference without any special culinary expertise.
